Muse and U2

Photo 105-108: So it's been quite the weekend, and I caught a cold to boot, but I figure, I got to see some amazing artists, so it was all worth it.... wait, that must be the cold medicine talking! No, no all kidding aside, this weekend was truly "magnificent" and I've finally had time to post some of the shots I was able to capture from my nose bleed section.

Concert Week

Photo 104: So I haven't published all week, but it's been quite the week, and I caught up with my pictures anyway. BUT here's a shot from the U2 show last night - before the pandemonium started. They were absolutey amazing, and Muse, who played before them, was fantastic as well. I'll be working on some of the images from last night, even though Big Pedro didn't make it into the stadium. He had to be represented by Little Pedro. He did well too... :)

Murals

Photo 101-103: Here is a collection of murals I've seen all over. The colors, the stories, and the meanings are varied, but what matters really is what each viewer interprets, sees and feels.

Happy Water

Photo 100: It's a small milestone today, because I've reached 100 photos! So exciting, and so rewarding, and so exhausting sometimes. lol It's not all about capturing the photo, but then molding it into a photo that keeps the essence of what you saw, but enhancing it to create a piece of art at the same time. This weekend was an absolutely stunning weekend, and we had some truly great later-summer weather with a hint of fall, but here's a shot in front of the Brooklyn Museum with a "dancing" fountain.

Clocks

Photo 99: I am fascinated by clocks, not just how they look, but the intricate mechanism that makes them tick. Ever since I was a little girl, I took watches and clocks apart to the dismay of my parents and grandmother, because I wanted to see all the tiny little details, discs and screws that made the telling of time possible.

Recovery Walk

Photo 95-98: I finally got to the photos of the recovery walk I worked/participated in. Like I said before, it was truly amazing to be part of that cause, and as you can see, the mood wasn't dampened by some serious rainclouds. People were D E D I C A T E D to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Nothing and no one was going to stop them, and you don't argue with a crowd of 10,000 people. While shooting these images, I not only climbed a very slippery fountain, but learned to walk backwards without tripping or injuring anyone including myself. All in all, it was quite the successful photo hunt.

Where's Prince Charming?

Photo 93-94: Since I'm still working on the walk pictures, and it looks like it's going to be a cloudy, rainy day, I've decided to post some sunny pictures of my recent travels. Here are two versions of the beautiful castle I found, along with an image that I played with.

Walk and a fan

Photo 91-92: I participated in a walk this weekend (pictures to follow), and it was amazing to see thousands of people dedicated to their cause despite the impending rain and cloudy prospects. Their pride at what they had overcome and pure energy carried them through the morning and across the Brooklyn Bridge, and it really renewed your faith in the human spirit and what we can achieve, no matter how hard the obstacle.

After the walk was over, and everyone was gathered to see Smokey Robinson perform, I got to meet the walk's smallest fan for the first time, and promptly got a hug and a kiss. I tell you, he made the sunshine come out.

He braved the storm and rain, and shared his newer-ending enthusiasm with the rest of the group, and couldn't be happier with a little flag, an oreo cookie and the attention from pop pop who he is smiling at in this picture below.

A little tea?

Photo 90: Look what little "English/Irish/Who Really Cares As Long As the Tea is Good" cafe I found! They had the best scones and cream!

Views and Stairs

Photo 88-89: This rain isn't helping in the photo department, but it gives it all a nice little ambiance. Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks that embrace the rain, the mood and shows us that no matter what the weather, there's always an image waiting to be captured.

Avenging Angel

Photo 87: Is this angel really carrying a club? Well, I guess even angels have the need for an iron core every once in a while.

Doors

Photo 84-86: So I took a little sidetrip last weekend, and managed to be creative despite the many events, happenings and chapters of life that were prolonged. lol Life is definitely never boring, and is quite colorful as you can see. I just thought these doors were so much fun, and were all over the city.

Remember

Photo 77 - 83: I know, I know, I've been absent for some time now, i.e. a week, but it's been a tad crazy with trips, life and the occassional wrench thrown in. But today, of all days, I wanted to share some images of NYC and remember what happened eight years ago. At the time I wasn't a New Yorker yet, I was in Missouri, finishing my last year of journalism school, but I will never forget where I was that day and how my heart went out to the millions of people affected by the horrible events of that day - in NY, DC and PA.

I look back over the last eight years - five of which I have spent in NYC - and I know for certain that we as New Yorkers are resilient, strong, argumentative, caring, diverse, helpful, colorful, stressful, amazing at navigating traffic while holding three cups of coffee, stubborn, easy to laugh, easy to defend, easy to give, faithful, boastful, funny and absolutely magnificent.

White Flower

Photo 76: I'm sensing a trend, but I had to capture this stunning white flower. Love the contrast with the grey stones and the green leaves.

5:30 a.m. and All Is Well

Photo 72: Good Morning! I'm suffering a tad from jetlag, so my internal clock is waking me up at 5:30 a.m. lately to start the day. Do I agree with that, no! Do I have a choice, not really - my body thinks it's almost noon in Austria. But it's not all wasted time and energy, at least I get to capture a shot like this - a beautiful sunset over BK. It's funny what you miss when you're in dreamland.
